Saint Helena will issue a new version of the banknote in circulation

Recently, the British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic: St. Helena, announced a new version of the circulation banknote pattern, which is the first time in 22 years that the banknote design has been updated in the region, and the new banknote will be issued this month.

The new banknotes contain three denominations: £5, £10 and £20, and the design style is very similar to the new Falkland Islands pound. The new banknote replaces the original head of Queen Elizabeth with King Charles III on the obverse, and the reverse is printed with representative local flora and fauna. The banknotes of the three denominations are basically the same except for the differences in color and numbers.

The tortoise on the back of the new banknote is a giant turtle from the Seychelles named Jonathan. Born in 1832, he was given to Saint Helena as a diplomatic gift by Seychelles at the age of 50 and is still alive at the age of 194. It is the longest-lived land animal known in the world and has been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The flower on the left on the back is the blackwood lily, also known as St. Helena ebony, which is an endangered plant endemic to St. Helena, and its flowers are composed of five petals and are white and flawless in color.
